How Can Nutrition Help?
Here are some ways...
To grow a healthy plant the seed needs to be planted in the right type of soil. The same is true for human health; meaning that each of our unique genetics can be positively affected by the right nutrition. At the the Welcome to Health Center we learn about you by testing your genetic capacities and the effect that food allergies and sensitivities have on your ability to digest and assimilate nutrients. Throughout the process nutritional blood testing tells us how our nutritional interventions are working. From this information we create custom nutritional plans tailored to each patient that include diet and vitamin supplement recommendations. Although all illness can be affected by nutrition, some common conditions we see include...
High blood pressure
Type II diabetes
Thyroid Conditions
Cardiovascular disease
Autoimmune diseases
Inflammatory Conditions
Food allergies
Digestive problems
Depression, mood, and sleep disorders
Low energy, memory, and focus problems
Headaches and chronic pain
Hormone Imbalances
What Do We Test For?
Food Sensitivity Testing: Keeping a food diary is a great way to learn about your bodies reactions to certain foods and some people experience an immediate allergic reaction or IGE. The reason food sensitivity testing is so useful is that there are other allergen responses that can take up to four days to appear. We test these allergens that are difficult to pinpoint.
Genetic Testing: Through a patients saliva we test 55 snips of single nucleotide polymorphisms. These are common genes that have variable levels of under-expression or over-expression and can affect the way the remaining parts of the genome function. We all receive one gene from our mother and one from our father. Both sets of genes may be normal, but they could also be expressed in too extreme of a manner. This can throw off delicate balances in bodily systems that relate to energy regulation, inflammation control, digestion, endocrine system function, brain and nerve function, mood regulation, risk of heart attack, or may result in autoimmune disorders.
Nutritional Blood Testing: This blood test is used to determine a wide range of nutritional levels in the body. It can give clues into why a patient is experiencing a health concern and can be corrected through diet and supplement recommendations.
What to Expect
Initial Consultation: After completing a nutritional questionnaire, you will receive an in depth consultation with Dr. Rexroth about your health goals and create a plan based around your needs.
Use local laboratories to draw blood, which will be sent to a specialized lab that performs genetic or nutritional testing.
Based on the test results Dr. Rexroth will design a care plan including diet and nutritional supplement recommendations. This will include foods to avoid, foods to eat and may lay out a sequence of instructions that will reset certain metabolic processes in the body.
