Why use a rapid weight loss method?

The New England Journal of Medicine's piece entitled, “Myths, Presumptions, and Facts about Obesity” provided a synopsis of the available science on weight reduction. The journal's recomendations were in stark contrast with nutrition advice we hear in our daily lives. 

The study compared slow weight­ loss to rapid weight ­loss and drew the conclusion that dieters are more likely to complete a rapid weight­ loss program. The dieter's motivation remained high and the results were more sustainable.
